Data Collection Statement
Purpose of This Statement
This statement is a short, plain English summary of what personal information TutorMunk collects, why we collect it, where it is kept and who can see it. It sits alongside our full Privacy Policy. Where this summary and the Privacy Policy differ, the Privacy Policy applies.
If you do not want to provide the information described here, we may not be able to enrol your child or deliver sessions. We cannot send a tutor to a home without an address, and we cannot engage a tutor without verifying their Working with Children Check.

TutorMunk delivers tutoring in person only, in the family home or at our Gregory Hills centre, one to one or in small groups. We do not deliver online sessions and we do not operate a student platform or student logins.
What We Collect and Why
Parents and Guardians

We do not record video or audio of any session, and students do not have accounts or logins.
Tutors and Tutor Applicants

Where Your Information Is Kept
We keep personal information in Australia wherever practicable. Some of the software we use for email, website hosting and record keeping may store information overseas. Before information goes to an overseas provider we take reasonable steps to check that it will be handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Paper records, including signed session sheets, are collected from tutors and stored securely. Tutors must not keep copies of family addresses or student records once an engagement ends.

We do not sell personal information.
Session Oversight
For in-home sessions, a responsible adult must be present in the home for the whole session and signs the session record at the end. At our centre, sessions take place in rooms visible from outside or with the door open, and staff may observe at any time. No session is recorded.
Marketing
We only send marketing to people who have ticked the consent box. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by emailing hello@tutormunk.com.au. Unsubscribing does not stop messages about your child's active enrolment.
Your Rights
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.
- Opt out of marketing at any time.
- Make a complaint if you think your privacy has been breached.
Write to hello@tutormunk.com.au to exercise any of these rights. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
How Long We Keep It
Enrolment and session records are kept for 7 years from the end of the enrolment. Financial records are kept for 7 years because tax law requires it. Tutor records are kept for 7 years from the end of the engagement. Session notes and reports are kept for 3 years. Records relating to child safety are kept for 45 years. Enquiry and marketing records are kept for 3 years from the last contact.
